It is traditionally considered a species that brings good luck to the house where it is established. It eats about 2,500 mosquitoes a day (5-6 grams). Originally they made their nests embedded in the stone walls, now the nests are usually under the roof, in the urban centers, with a small opening and in colonies of birds. Each of the swallow species that we can find in Catalonia builds the nest in a different way.
